This 62-yr-old man had been gradually losing hair in his vertex (crown) region for over 20 years. Despite taking Propecia, he experienced no new hair growth in that region (although his wife did believe that the medication had slowed his hair loss) from the medication. A 2104-micrograft session to this region provided the coverage he desired.
The combination of this patient's age, donor reserve, and anticipated pattern of hair loss made him an ideal candidate for treatment of his vertex. This approach, however, may not always be appropriate in younger patients with limited donor reserve needed to address more extensive areas of future loss.
